Ethics & Disclosure

This page explains how emoto.news makes money and what that does — and does not — buy. If anything here is unclear, ask us attips@emoto.news.
Affiliate links
Some links to retailers earn us a commission if you buy through them, at no additional cost to you. Any article containing them carries a disclosure at the top, before the first link — not buried in the footer.
Commissions do not influence our verdicts, our scores, or which products we cover. We routinely recommend against products we would earn a commission on, and we link to manufacturers who pay us nothing when they are the right answer.
Advertising
We display programmatic advertising. Those ads are sold by an ad network, not by us — we do not choose the individual advertisers, and their appearance is not an endorsement.
Our editorial team has no contact with advertisers, and advertisers get no advance notice of editorial coverage. No advertiser has ever been given the ability to review, alter, or delay a story, and none ever will be.
Sponsored content
We occasionally publish content paid for by an advertiser. It is labelled"Paid content" at the top of the article and in every listing on the site, it is not written by our editorial team, and it is excluded from our reviews and buying guides.
We do not publish sponsored content that is designed to be mistaken for editorial.
Review units and press launches
Manufacturers sometimes lend us machines to review, and sometimes pay travel costs to a press launch. Where that happened, we say so in the article. Accepting a loan does not entitle a manufacturer to a favourable review, copy approval, or advance sight of our questions.
We do not keep review units. Loans go back.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we fix it and mark the article as updated, with the date. We do not silently edit published claims.
